From September 4–9, 2025, the Erasmus+ training course “Eco-POWER” took place at Popova Shapka, nestled in the stunning National Park Shara, N. Macedonia. The event gathered 20 participants from five countries — N. Macedonia, Serbia, Romania, Türkiye, and Hungary — who spent an inspiring week learning, exchanging, and creating solutions for a greener future.

Guided by our expert trainer, participants explored critical topics such as energy transition, renewable technologies, energy poverty, and environmental activism. Using Heffron’s model of the energy trilemma as a framework, they discussed challenges in their home countries and developed concrete action plans to promote sustainable practices. The workshops combined theory with practice, ensuring youth workers left with knowledge and tools they can apply directly in their communities.

The agenda was diverse and engaging. Participants learned through non-formal education methods — group discussions, simulations, case studies, and practical teamwork. They also enjoyed cultural and social moments, including the NGO Market, intercultural night, and a movie night featuring Erin Brockovich, sparking reflections on advocacy and civic engagement.

Outside the sessions, the sunny and pleasant weather allowed the group to enjoy the natural surroundings. Participants had the chance to use the hotel’s spa center for relaxation, while also giving back to nature by organizing a “Hike Up, Pick Up” activity, collecting waste during a mountain hike. Although they left the mountain cleaner, it also reminded everyone that much work remains in environmental protection.

The training course successfully blended learning with enjoyment. Participants not only gained knowledge but also created strong friendships and unforgettable memories. They returned home full of impressions and enthusiasm, ready to act as future eco ambassadors in their local communities.
